WordPress.com Owner Gets New General Counsel Amid Trademark Spat


Automattic Inc., a web development and software company that owns online publishing platform WordPress.com and other internet products, has named former Twitter Inc. in-house lawyer Jordan Hinkes its general counsel.

Hinkes is the latest former lawyer from Twitter, an Elon Musk-owned social media service now known as X, to take on a legal leadership role. Sam Altman’s Tools for Humanity Corp. recently brought on a pair of ex-Twitter executives, making one its new legal chief, and online dating giant Match Group Inc. hired former Twitter general counsel Sean Edgett as its top lawyer in September.
