There are a lot of priorities ahead for the City of Quinte West in 2025.
Quinte News chatted with Mayor Jim Harrison about the next 12 months.
Harrison says capital projects will be front and centre.
“2nd Dughill is a project that will carry on and we will do our best. Staikos Development, Klemencic Homes, they’re all working down through there and building what I think is a first class facility for people to buy and move into.”
He says the focus of any laws or projects is for the benefit of as many people as possible.
Infrastructure will be priority one.
“Roads, waste water is a big issue for us. It total about $440 million worth of infrastructure that has to be done, has to be done. We’ve got to put a new waste water line from #2 Highway and 2nd Dughill Road, all the way to the waste water treatment plant. That’s got to be done.”
He says although they do not always get everything right, he says they have the best of intentions and he is proud of the work that will continue into the new year.
“We’ve got great recreation facilities, we’ve made improvements to the Y (YMCA), we’ve made improvements to the arenas.”
Harrison finished by indicating council will be working with provincial and federal representatives to get funding for projects within Quinte West.
