This will mark their first project together in nearly nine years.
On Monday, December 2, program producer Kakao Entertainment delivered an update regarding one of its upcoming shows, ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince,’ that will air on Korean television network MBC.
Set in an alternate reality, where South Korea remained under the rule of a monarchy, the project will reunite two of the biggest names in Hallyu, singer-actress IU and actor-model Byeon Woo Seok.
IU will be portraying Sung Hee Joo, the second daughter of a mega-conglomerate. Meanwhile, Woo Seok will do the character of Lee Ahn, a crowned prince and second son of the king.
At the moment, most details regarding ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’ are still kept under wraps, including the storyline, other cast members, and its official broadcast schedule.
Although, this will mark the reunion between the two stars, who previously starred together in the 2016 drama ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.’
The actress-singer topbilled the series as the dual-character Go Ha Jin in the modern times and as Hae Soo in the past.
As for Byeon, he was casted in the minor role as Ha Jin’s ex-boyfriend in the present era and before the time-slip happened.
IU made her entry to showbusiness in 2008 as a singer, and is known for her songs like ‘Good Day,’ ‘Palette,’ ‘BBIBBI,’ ‘Blueming,’ ‘eight,’ ‘Celebrity,’ ‘Lilac,’ among many others.
She has also made her mark in acting after starring in several hit Korean drama series like ‘Dream High,’ ‘My Mister,’ and ‘Hotel del Luna’.
Modeling was what kicked things off for Woo Seok in the industry, before eventually making the jump into acting in 2016.
In the past years, he had been part of numerous film and television projects, including ‘Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency,’ ‘Record of Youth,’ ‘Moonshine,’ ’20th Century Girl,’ ‘Strong Girl Nam-soon,’ and most-recently, as Ryu Sun Jae in ‘Lovely Runner.’
