Family Services of Central Alberta (FSCA) Gifts for Grandparents returns to Red Deer, where community members can donate items to create gift packages that will be given to isolated seniors.
Judy Scott, executive director of FSCA spoke with 89.3 The Raven as she speaks on how Gifts for Grandparents started to support seniors throughout the holiday season.
Scott speaks on how the gift packages are created with the donated items from community, that can include a lightweight blanket, cookies, word searches as a way of thinking of the seniors throughout the holidays.
Scott says the support from the Red Deer Community brings tears to her eyes when donated items for the seniors, as last year they raised close to 600 gift bags, with the new goal to reach is 700 for isolated seniors in Red Deer.
Scott is hopeful that people that choose to donate should know that even with a donation of a box of cookies or anything on the wish list is making a huge difference in someone’s life.
