For years, longtime public transportation advocate Nathan Davidowicz has been providing an immense public service, entirely voluntarily, by compiling and circulating the Weekly Alternative Buzzer (WAB). The WAB is a mix of everything – a transit newsletter, an events board, a service bulletin, fun stories, interesting factoids, a treasure trove of links, and more!
Here below we share the latest version of the Weekly Alternative Buzzer. If the topics interest you, please write to him (nathandavidowicz2@gmail.com) to sign up for free email delivery. You can also find his content on these platforms:

This week Nathan draws attention to:
- TransLink Board meeting on Dec. 4, 2024 with a 2025 budget having a proposed 4% increase to the unfair fare structure. Our average fare is already the highest in Canada. The agenda (see PDF link) was made public just before 5 p.m. on Friday, but delegations must sign up to speak by 8 a.m. Monday morning. See our separate post today (link will be added). The sign-up link seems not be functioning so be sure to write TransLink Corporate Secretary TransLinkCorporateSecretary@translink.ca. It seems some governance and operational improvements are needed with this $2.5 billion organization.
- Transit Safety Meeting Dec. 4, 2024 1045 a.m. to 1230 p.m. at Strathcona Community Centre, 601 Keefer St. Vancouver BC
- COPE Transit and Transportation Conference on Dec 8, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Japanese Hall, 487 Alexander St. Vancouver BC
- Will the Ottawa ” Transit Revolution ” spread across Canada?
Will the Transit Unions help us to start a transit revolution in BC ?
