Diversity, equity and inclusion is something that’s been top of mind for Niagara Health – and for good reason.
Manager of Health Equity Zainab Awad says it’s important for people to feel as comfortable as possible when seeking medical advice.
Awad says someone who’s comfortable will often share important information, leading to better care.
Niagara Health is hosting a DEI Conference on December 5th in St. Catharines. It will feature keynote presentations from Sane Dube, Director, Health Equity and System Transformation at Ontario Health, who will discuss strategies for addressing disparities in healthcare and Fatima Sheikh, Health Equity Specialist at Hamilton Health Sciences and PhD candidate at McMaster University whose research is focused on the role of social determinants of health in critical care.
The conference will offer both in-person attendance and a virtual option for the morning session, making the conference accessible to a wider audience.
Registration is now open and interested individuals can sign up by visiting the conference website. Participants can save on registration and book with early bird rates from now until Oct. 31, 2024. Early registration is encouraged as in-person space is limited.
