The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is excited to announce its production of “The Color Purple, The Musical” in partnership with the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas. This initiative reflects UAPB’s unwavering commitment to community engagement and the arts, inviting participation from UAPB scholars, faculty, staff, and members of the local community and surrounding areas to audition. The production is scheduled for April 9-13, 2025. Auditions are set to take place from Jan. 13 through Jan. 17, 2025, running daily from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Dawson-Hicks Hall, room 312 on the UAPB campus.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with UAPB Theatre Instructor Taijee Bunch, who will direct the production alongside co-director Michelle Young-Hobbs. Their creative vision will support and encourage aspiring and experienced artists in their creative journeys.
We encourage all interested participants to showcase their talent by performing a brief snippet of a gospel song. Alternatively, those who wish to prepare a piece from the musical itself are more than welcome. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, auditions may extend beyond the initial week as needed.
If you have questions about the audition process or want to learn more about UAPB’s theatre program, please email buncht@uapb.edu. Join us in fostering a vibrant artistic culture at UAPB and participate in this incredible theatrical experience!
