ANC ceases production of weekend newscasts – Trendrod

As part of the sweeping changes at the news channel.

In a Facebook post, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) anchor Stanley Palisada shared that the outlet has bade its weekend newscasts farewell on Saturday, November 30.

“Today brings to a close 20 years of the ANC weekend newscasts but my gratitude extends beyond the opportunity to anchor these shows,” he wrote.

“Behind the camera, some of the best bonds have been made and this appreciation post honors all those who have been part of the team, especially those who are taking a different journey after tonight. Godspeed and see you around,” Palisada added.

Accompanying that post were his images with fellow weekend anchor Rica Lazo and the production team responsible for the weekend bulletins.

This development is the latest blow for ANC, which has seen multiple cuts in its programming since the shutdown of its parent network ABS-CBN’s terrestrial broadcast channels on television and radio in 2020.

After the events of May 5, ANC had opted to cease the production of the Sunday editions of its news programs ‘Rundown,’ ‘Top Story,’ and ‘The World Tonight.’

Instead, the only live news programming to emanate from the channel on that day is the simulcast of ‘TV Patrol Weekend.’

Aside from that, weekday news programming also became limited, from a former 24 hour-operation complete with top-of-the-hour ‘ANC Headlines’ during graveyard hours, it now starts from 7:00 am and end as the credits roll for ‘The World Tonight’ at 9:30 pm.

The announcement also happens two days prior to the start of the new weekday programming lineup at the news channel, which was announced earlier this week.
